Castello di Tabiano

The ancient fortress and his park

Texts by Anna Mavilla and Giorgio Villani. Photography by Massimo Listri.
2026 / 80 PAGES. Language: English; Italian
The book celebrates the centuries-old history of the Tabiano Castle and its landscape and cultural environment. A journey through the architectural, historical and artistic transformations of this ancient feudal fortress.

Available from Oct. 16.
The book retraces the castle's history, from its origins to the Medieval and Renaissance transformations and, finally the modern restoration work, carried out from the late 19th century onwards. The latter, as detailed in the text by Giorgio Villani, took place in a cultural climate that favoured artistic revivals of the Medieval and Renaissance styles. Instead, Anna Malvilla's text centres on the history of the castle itself, speaking at length of the people who contributed to its “renaissance”, such as Giacomo Corazza, Rosa Gatti and the artists and architects who worked on the project - including Cleomene Marini, Mario Vacca e Lodovico Pogliaghi. The text thus offers an in-depth historical and artistic analysis, enriched by anecdotes about the castle, the events that took place there over the years and the illustrious people who came and went. The vast iconographic apparatus features photographs by Massimo Listri, which capture the magnificence of the interior decor, of the gardens and of the surrounding landscape. There are also drawings and records from the archives showing the project developments. The volume pays homage to the beauty and history of Tabiano, a place as alive and active as ever, with the goal of preserving its cultural and historical heritage.
