Mannequin head for Pierre Imans in “La Reine de Saba”
Erté, Romain de Tirtoff
20th century, Tempera on paper
A design for a mannequin head, made using tempera, black for the face with golden parts such as hair, mouth and eyebrows. The expression is typical of Erté’s art, which can be identified in the linear nature of the figure and the details of the face, not to mention the artistic tastes of the Deco period.
